Are Reviews on Google and Yelp Important to Your Business? (The Answer is Yes)

When was the last time you checked your business’s online reviews?

You may quickly discover some people have said some not-so-nice things about you. Statistically speaking, people are more likely to share a bad experience than a good one. Even if you’re a great business with many satisfied customers, your reviews on Google, Yelp, Facebook, etc., may all end up on the negative side if you’re not paying attention.

Why Should You Care?

Because consumers care about internet reviews. A lot.

Did you know that 92% of consumers read online reviews?

83% of consumers trust online reviews as much as a personal recommendation!

And 40% of those consumers form their opinion after reading just 1-3 reviews.

In other words, your online reviews matter. So if you haven’t checked them recently, you might want to go and do that.

And then….

Get Positive Reviews

The hard truth is, most of your satisfied customers aren’t going to go and review your business automatically. It’s not that they don’t want to. They just don’t think about. Or they forget.

That means, if you really want to boost your online reputation, you’ll need to take a more hands on approach. Reach out to your top clients with some links to places they can leave reviews.

If you have a satisfied customer in your store/shop/office, ask them if they’ll quick sit down at a computer or pull their phone out and give you a review on the spot.

Try placing a sign by your front desk, encouraging people to leave reviews.

Some businesses even offer discounts, coupons, or rewards for reviews. We’re not saying you should bribe people…but adding some incentive never hurts.

What About the Negative Reviews?

Unfortunately, trying to remove negative reviews from anywhere can be a difficult, and often impossible task. If you feel a review is completely off-based or was left by someone you’ve never done business with, you can flag or report it.

From there, it’s up to the discretion of the review moderators.

Depending on where the review was left, you might be able to leave a comment, apologizing to the person for their experience and offering a way to make it right.

It’s Not All About Reviews

Though reviews are important, they don’t always guarantee new leads and customers for your business. That’s where search engine optimization and internet marketing come into play. At Launch Runner, we don’t handle review management, but we can improve your business’s ranking in local search results.

98% of consumers won’t ever see your business if you’re not on page 1 of their search results.

Of course, organic search results are just one way to get people to your website. That’s why we also do email marketing, Adwords management, content and blog writing, and more.

Oh, and we can build you a beautiful, mobile responsive website with on-going maintenance and support for a very affordable rate.

Positive reviews are important. But a properly functioning website that generates leads is a must-have.
